This is a pro-choice song that centers around choices and issues that occurred in Ohio shortly after the supreme court decision in 2022. This seemed a valid set of events to center a story about abortion, and it leads to the ultimate line of the song, “abortion is a right… so that we may love the children we already have.” As far as I know, everything I state is true, although I obviously have an opinion and negative emotion towards the pro-life side.
This is the first song that I have both written and advanced to a production stage. The idea is to have a positive, major key chorus which might be singable (hopefully) and then have a more ominous minor-key verse that includes most of the comment. In between, there are little transitions in both major and minor.
The song was prepared in Audacity. There was an earlier version labelled “Demo” that was actually that I downloaded an incorrect version of the song without mixing. Basically, the distributor site requires a “wav” file format, however if you export from Audacity to wav format, it kills any settings and mixing. I found out in retrospect that I had to export to an mp3 format to keep the mixing, then export the mp3 format to a wav format.
It still seems like Audacity and Apple further filtered the song to remove some of the reverb that I had put in to cover a variety of minor blemishes. This makes the song somewhat somewhat granular, hopefully it you can appreciate it as a valid style.
